Writing Templates and Guidelines

Finding my academic writing voice is a constant learning experience.

Welcome to category number two: “no one told me this! Oh, fucking DUH!”

When I am teaching, I opt for the whiteboard or chalkboard. At first, it’s how I provide students a visual to communicate whatever I am tasked to teach them with. If the vibes are right (if I do my job well enough) — by the end of it students tell me where to go! Learning together is a practice, and community building is an on going process, mind maps help me get us there.

Mind maps are whatever you want them to be. Here, think of it is a brain dump to draw out your thought process. Remember: it is meant to be fun! You can also think of your mind map as a video game atlas or a blank canvas — it is a tool for you to flesh out the story you want to share with your audience, and the research you want to teach us about.

Sometimes the most frustrating part is that no one really taught us how to do it.
